I bought this for my mini van to use it with my Sony 8 inch DVD player. It fits the player nicely.There are two earphone jacks on the bottom for easy access. Great for storing your car charger and discs and there is enough room for even the ear phones.
Here is how it works: Basically you suspend a strap between the two head rests and attach the case with a velcro that loops over the strap. Simple and a little bit primitive. I have a Windstar with headrests that are just an extention of the seat and don't rest on a metal bar. It probably works better if you have the adjustable headrests in your car.
The good news is that you can just remove the case from the strap and leave the strap when you want to take it out of the car.
The player is attached to the case with one skimpy little strap as well. So far it has been holding out but I wish it looked a little bit more sturdy.

This is a really nice case, especially for the price. It works well in the car to hold the DVD player in multiple positions. It works perfect with the Sony 8 inch player or the LG 8 inch player.

Despite his manic and profane delivery, Rock's comedy is often rooted in traditional subjects for comedians: family relationships, misunderstandings between men and women, and observations on how childhood has changed. But he takes his material right to the edge, proving himself to be a sharp-eyed satirist. Serious and timely issues, such as school shootings or children being neglected by partying parents, are tackled by Rock, who's not afraid to slip in a serious point while being hysterically funny. His defense of President Clinton against his accusers is a good example of how Rock's material is almost always bound to offend someone: he slices through the self-righteous rhetoric of the impeachment spectacle, but even the behavior he defends comes in for ridicule with jokes that are extremely funny as well as extremely coarse. The pace of this one-hour show is uneven, and some viewers will no doubt find Rock's penchant for using profanity as punctuation tiresome. It's Chris Rock.....the man is very, very funny....BUT the newer guys, especially Godfrey...are expanding on the theme and really have moved to where comedy is headed. Check out the Godfrey CD if you dig Chris, Eddie, Pryor, even the Blue Collar stuff really. I can't state it enough how funny the Godfrey 'Godspeed' CD is.....

I really like the way this protects my DVD player & it holds 10 DVDs. But the front storage pocket is not expandable nor deep enough for my charger and headphones. I can stuff the items in but cannot close the flap and it makes the bag very bulky. I am currently in the market for a case that has extra storage compartments and can hold more DVDs.

I recently purchased this on Ebay for my 2 year old. We love it! I load the dvd for him and he does the rest. He loves pushing the buttons and carrying the little dvd player around with him. The screen is small, but the resolution is so great that it doesn't really matter. The player auto corrects itself when it detects a scratch on the dvd. You can jostle the player around and even drop it on a couch or bed and it won't even skip. We bought the "on the go kit" separate and it has everything we need to go on a trip. It includes the car adapter, ac adapter, ear phones, ear phone splitter, and rca cables. I had thought about buying a different player, that had a bigger screen and was less expensive, but now I am really happy to have spent [...] on this toddler friendly dvd player. I think this will hold up to years of little hands.

Fisher Price has done it again and they have released another great kid-tough product. This year they have released a DVD player that will be able to handle a royal beating from your toddler. As a personal fan of their kid-tough camera, I was excited to see how the new DVD Player worked.

This DVD player is built from sturdy heavy-duty materials that can handle plenty of abuse. Each unit comes with a rechargeable battery & charger, which holds a charge for about two hours.

The screen size is 3.2 and has a color LCD screen on it with simple controls that make it easy for children to use. It also has a handle where kids can tote or hold the unit while they watch their movies or you can use the kickstand legs on the unit for hands-free viewing.

Not included with this player is a video out cable for the television, but if purchased, your child can watch their movies through their own DVD player on the regular television.

The main issue with it, as a parent of a destructive toddler, is that your child can take their own movies in and out and a parent safety latch would be great for keeping the movie in there, but still allowing your child the "controls" of stopping and starting their own shows. Because of this reason, it makes it a toy that requires more parental supervision to insure that we don't ruin our precious Dora movies that would be played on it.

The screen size is small, but understandably so in order to make this portable for little hands. This toy has a steeper price tag, but would work great for a family that doesn't want to make an investment in a DVD unit for the car, but wants to be able to take their child's entertainment on the road.

Of course, my parents used to have us entertain ourselves and we laughingly referred to our car as the "blue prison" on our treks to visit the family in Florida. Perhaps something like this would have saved my parents from yelling at us so much.

I have 2 of them they are a super durable I have been purchase dvd player and all of them end up messup by my daughters but this is the best. Every time they begin to disturb in the car I gave each one their own dvd and they settle down right away!!! They each can watch watever they want and with the headphones do not disturb each other. If it was not for this dvd my traveling time would have been exausted! The screen could be a bit small but the colors and quality is outstanding. My daughters love them!

Customer Review: A fun game to pass time
I bought two of these, one for my family and one for my sisters. We haven't had a chance to try ours out yet, but I saw my niece playing hers and she really liked it. Although I know this was geared towards on the road travel, my niece used hers while at a event she had to attend with her Mom. It helped her pass the time and she had fun testing her TV knowledge.

I think this as a great game for the backseat, in an RV or when you need to pass some time outside of the house. A great deal for less than $6!

This TV Travel edition of Scene It is a very fun game at a good price. While I still prefer the Movie Trivia version Scene It? Movie Travel DVD Game, this one still kept my attention for more than one trip. When it comes to the best bang for your buck, Scene It Travel editions are hard to beat.

The questions are good and the game is designed pretty well. There's also an included game board with magnetic player pieces to play with others.

After owning two of these travel edition games, I get the feeling this was designed with RVers and road trippers in mind who travel as a family or group. As for me, I usually travel alone and load these games on my laptop DVD. So I kind of ignore the whole game board setup and just use this for the questions.

For solo travelers like me, using a DVD player on the road can sometimes be a deal-breaker. There are also book based trivia games such as the "Obsessed with Hollywood" book. Obssessed With... Hollywood: Test Your Knowledge of the Silver Screen (Obsessed With) (Obsessed With...) However, that book is harder to find on Amazon and isn't the sturdiest thing in the world.

This is a great trivia game for portable solo or multi-player use. At the price of around $13 to $15, it's a great value.

Definitely would get this one.

I got this film for a whole penny. A national video chain was holding a great sale of movies for a penny and a dollar on Thanksgiving day. I viewed this movie before buying this dvd and I enjoyed the film. I watched it a few years later and I do not feel the same way, its still an enjoyable movie though. Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis skip Christmas for a year and everyone has a fit over it. Talk about respecting peoples privacy. Dan Akyroyd leds the neighborhood and trys to get them to understand why they'd do this. Its a great idea ruined by bad acting. If you enjoy films like Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Carol (various ones), Scrooged, Christmas Story, Home Alone to name a few then this one has a good idea but poorly executed. Not going be an annual viewing for any families around the world during Christmas.

Summon Night: Twin Age

Summon Night: Twin Age Call forth the powers of the Spirits in Summon Night Twin Age for Nintendo DS. This is called Summoning and it also brings creatures from other worlds into this one. The stylus is your key to the world of Clardona, whether as your swinging sword or your shimmering wall of fire. From a very young age, the human girl Reiha displayed great aptitude for the magical art of Summoning. While still a child, her powers caused a terrible accident during a major Summoning experiment. It was reported that Reiha had died as a result, but she survived along with a young Summon Beast named Aldo that had been pulled into her world. One day, the Spirits began to go wild for no apparent reason, causing the seas to become unpredictable, the plants to wither, and the animals to become violent, threatening the Kascuza on the island. Customer Review: It's a Charmer!
I just can't deny Summon Night: Twin Age's charm. The game is easy to grasp and, although, it might not be the most innovative storyline, there's no denying it's fun filled.

Summon Night: Twin Age features two main characters Reiha and Aldo, who you choose to play is entirely up to you. Reiha is a summoner and Aldo is a summon beast. The two came into each other's lives years ago after an unfortunate accident happened during a summoning experiment. Reiha managed to survive, as did Aldo, who was pulled into her world. Reiha and Aldo are all each other have and very much have a brother/sister relationship. When the game begins the spirits are going out of control and from that point on you are on a quest to stop the madness.

Summon Night: Twin Age does a good job at incorporating the stylus into gameplay. It's an action based RPG, and you use the stylus to move, use magic, and attack enemies. The battle field can seem a little overwhelming at times, as there is a lot going on at once, but the game does a good job at keeping you on your toes. The mechanics are relatively simple and easy to pick up as well. Your supporting characters also have the ability to come back to life after a certain period of time elapses in battle. This is nice as there is no need to perform revival spells, but it's still not easy to completely survive without them. The only other difficult part is that your AI characters aren't exactly the sharpest. They will attack when they have a sliver of life left and most of the time you have to baby sit them. You can't entirely depend on them, which is another hardship to overcome. However, I feel Summon Night: Twin Age offers just the right amount of challenge without becoming too frustrating.

I'll give this game credit as you could definitely replay it. After each chapter you are able to speak with different characters and discover their perspective on the situation at hand. These conversations also will determine the ending. There are also multiple endings to discover depending on who you get to know.

Now there is a lot of good and enjoyment to be had with Summon Night Twin Age, however, the game does have some areas it could have improved on. The biggest downfalls are the lack of an entirely engaging story and it can be repetitive and particularly linear. There are little side quests to do, but they seemed tacked on rather than adding anything significant to the story. But, I'd like to note that for all these shortcomings, the characters more than make up for it. They will instantly charm you and provide the motivation needed to complete this game to the end.

This game has a lot of talking. To me this game is more complicated than the normal rpg game. I don't think it was worth the money I paid for it.

Used this on a recent flight - worked very well.
Prior to the trip - I charged up the battery but it only showed 2/3 full. None the less, I used it during the trip, then recharged and now it is showing Full.

Great player - plays all DVD's that I have put in it. Has option for full screen and widescreen. Great display - clear! Sound is fine using headphones and low volumes from speakers. Love the swivel action on the display - can even turn it around and close it on itself and have the screen show up on the top side like a tablet PC. Battery lasted fine on two leg plane trip form East Coast to Texas.

Only downside that I have found so far is that it takes an unusual amount of time to load a DVD+R disk. But again - it plays great, great video quality. I would give it a 4.5 but could only give it a 4 or a 5.

Customer Review: FINALLY I CAN TRANSFER MY 8MM TO DVD.
Up until now I have had no way to share my videos with my children, friends and other family members. Not everyone has a 8mm player. But every one has a DVD player. This little machine is so cool and simple to operate that I was able to select what I wnted to put on a DVD for each individual person. How much better this makes it for me!! I also live in Texas where tapes (VHS and 8mm) grow mold on them and you lose alot of video tape that way. This way I can transfer to a disc before the tape is moldy. I have lost many memories on tape due to the mold..Thank you so much for this great creation... God bless Nola
Customer Review: Good but not as good as VCD-VC20
I use the Sony VRDMC5 to burn dvds from the DVR or from VHS tapes. The VRDMC5 makes excellent dvds of 2 hours length or shorter, but it has consistently failed to make a complete dual layer recording of a longer movie or show. For some reason, it shuts down before the end of the movie or show. This makes this model much less desirable than its predecessor: the VCD-VC20. I still have one working VCD-VC20 (more than 5 years old) and it still produces excellent regular and dual layer dvds. The VRDMC5 also appears to be more discriminating than the VCD-VC20. Where the latter records on virtually every blank dvd (+R and -R), my VRDMC5 records exclusively on +R blank dvds.

I ordered this item several days ago. The page said it was in stock. Well, it's taking them *at least* 7 days just to ship it, so that it's guaranteed I won't get it for our Thanksgiving vacation - for which I bought it. No explanation whatsoever as to why there is such a huge delay on shipping it and no apologies either.

So, if you were thinking of getting one of these for a long drive, make sure you order it at least a month in advance.

I don't have much to add to most of the other reviews I read before purchasing this product. No product is flawless and neither is this one: for instance, a higher power yield would't hurt.

But it does exactly what it's for, which is to deliver about 120W of continuous power. I tested it for the first time on an airplane trip 10 days ago. My laptop consumes slightly more than that with the wireless on and the NVIDIA card on, and as such, on my airplane trip the power was discontinuous. But actually, one shouldn't use wireless on a plane... When I turned the wireless card off and select the Intel graphics chip (it's a dual card Sony Vaio SZ680), power was continuos for the rest of the flight. Couldn't hear the fan of the power adaptor in the whole flight.

I liked this product just fine for the first year of use, but now the fan is so loud it's really annoying. When we're in the car we try to hide it under the seat because it's so loud. Too bad the warranty expired so I can't send it in to be fixed.

The inverter works exactly as promised - it'w well made by a reputable company. What they DON'T tell you, though, is that, depending on your application, you need a large (300)amp fuse to make things work. You can't just hook the inverter straight to your battery bank and expect to plug in a microwave, for instance. Even after talking to Xantrex, it took some detective work to figure out this was our problem. If you need a lot of watts, this is a great unit to go with. Just do your homework and order a fuse and fuse holder online the same time you order this unit.

I had bought a yoga mat when I started doing Pilates, mistakenly thinking they were the same thing. Once I realized the difference I ordered this mat (I've been using the Stott Pilates DVD's and absolutely love them!) The mat is nice and thick, there's more cushion for the spine than the flatter yoga mat and I'm not at all sore after the workout.

It seems like everyone and his brother is getting this to use with an Acer Aspire One.

Well, it works fine with mine.

When I installed the CentOS/Linux operating system, the installation software didn't automatically recognize the drive, and I had to pick from a list of CentOS's drivers. That was no problem, however.

If you're going to use the unit to install a new operating system, or otherwise boot to the unit, you'll appreciate the outside power supply, since the USB ports on the Aspire One aren't powered until a few seconds into boot-up. By then the bios would have decided that no DVD was connected, and would be booting from the hard drive.

I found that out the hard way with a USB-powered unit made by LG, which is why I went for the Sony instead. That and several other problems with the LG.

Best for the Aspire One would be a USB-powered unit with an optional external power supply.

This is a first-rate drive, at a reasonable price.

Final Cut Server uses automation to create and maintain an asset catalog. A simple setup process lets you choose the relevant folders or directories on your network drives and volumes. Final Cut Server then scans the content on these file systems to identify asset types, capture supported metadata, create "browse" proxies and thumbnails, and generate your catalog. There is no need for you to move or copy assets.

You can direct Final Cut Server to point to the files on external volumes or a SAN, or you can elect to copy the files into Final Cut Server. In either case, all the cataloged files are visible and accessible in the Final Cut Server interface, complete with supported metadata associated with the assets. As part of the cataloging process, Final Cut Server extracts and captures a wide range of industry-standard metadata, including QuickTime, IPTC, XMP, and XML data. This can save hours that would otherwise be spent on manual data entry during cataloging.

Metadata from different sources may use a variety of fields and formats. A powerful mapping algorithm lets you translate metadata from different formats to provide consistent information across the catalog. You can also add metadata to each item after it is captured in the catalog.

Individual Asset Uploads
Final Cut Server users can easily add assets directly to the catalog as they work. There are two ways to add files from the client interface:

Drag and drop. Drag a file or files from the Finder, the desktop, or from a connected volume to the Assets pane. Drag an asset directly into a Production to add it to the catalog and the Production at the same time.
Upload window. Choose Upload File in the Server pop-up menu, select the file or files in the browser, and click Upload.

When you add an asset, you can define where it goes in the hierarchical file system on your drive or volume. You will also be prompted to select a metadata set that is appropriate to the asset or assets. Final Cut Server performs the remaining cataloging steps automatically. Final Cut Pro projects can also be added to the catalog from the client interface.

Final Cut Server catalogs all the referenced assets, skipping those that already exist in the catalog.

Automated Synchronization
Set up a schedule for scanning folders on your drives and volumes, and Final Cut Server does the rest. Changes to assets in those folders automatically update the catalog. Assign an editorial assistant to transfer raw footage to a folder, or organize key files on the volume in any way that makes sense to you. Because the asset catalog stays in sync with the files on your drives and volumes, you can continue to use your hierarchical file system and still enjoy the benefits of Final Cut Server.

With hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of assets associated with a single media production, hierarchical file systems quickly fall short as a way for multiple users to organize and access files. Easy-to-Use Metadata Tools
Final Cut Server lets you describe media and projects the way you want to, using just the metadata you need. Quickly choose from hundreds of predefined tags or create your own custom fields. Metadata views are fully configurable. Group fields in tabbed arrangements to fit your workflow. Production team members can easily add or update the content of metadata fields by making selections from pop-up menus or typing into text fields.

Versatile Production "Containers"
Final Cut Server Productions are virtual containers you can create to group related assets. Productions make it easy to track status, manage project files, and link associated media for the entire production process, from the initial proposal through delivery and archiving.

You can include proposals, scripts, budgets, and other documents as well as Final Cut Studio projects and media files. Each Production is represented by a thumbnail for quick identification.

Flexible asset use
Productions let you organize assets without copying them, so you can include the same assets in any number of Productions--with no increase in storage requirements.

Set up a Production to link all the media used for a particular job so that it's available to everyone who needs it through every production step. You can assign assets to a Production during automatic cataloging or manual uploads.

Production metadata
Each Production has its own set of metadata. Use Production-level metadata to track job status, usage rights, exposure details, and other information that you want to apply to all assets in the Production. You can assign custom status fields to the Production to track your project as it moves from preparation, to production, to post-production, to review and approval, and finally to delivery and archiving.

Powerful, Layered Searches
The Final Cut Server interface includes a Spotlight-style search field that lets you type a text string and choose a simple search type: Contains or Matches Word.

For greater precision, you can choose the advanced search option. This option allows you to choose search filters based on metadata fields. The search filters represent various conditions, including Boolean logic. You can search the entire asset catalog or a specific Production, and you can save any search as a Smart Search for repeated use.

Search Devices
The Search Devices window allows you to go outside of the Final Cut Server asset catalog to search directly on an attached device. This type of search is particularly useful in cases where the Final Cut Server catalog has access to a drive that a user may not be able to view directly in the desktop file system. You can use the Search Devices list to select assets and add them to the catalog.

Search All Jobs
The Search All Jobs window allows you to search automated production jobs for key metadata tags such as Client or Status. You could use Search All Jobs to check the status of a file transfer or a wide range of other operations, including archiving.

Personalized Workspaces
Final Cut Server offers several ways to personalize your workspace so that the items you use most are available at your fingertips:

Productions. Create any number of Productions for your personal use or share them with just your team.
Smart Search. Save common or repeated searches as Smart Searches in your personal workspace and see the results with a single click. You can save both simple and advanced searches that are targeted at assets or Productions.

Time-Saving Previews
Because Final Cut Server creates low-resolution browse proxies during cataloging, you can screen proxies right from the catalog as you evaluate assets. Viewing a low-resolution proxy is significantly faster than opening and playing a large, high-resolution HD video file.

Optimized Bandwidth Use
Final Cut Server seamlessly adjusts to the bandwidth of your network configuration when delivering files for editing.

Caching files
If you are editing over a LAN or WAN, Final Cut Server copies all the referenced assets to a cache on the client workstation as a Final Cut Pro project is checked out. Caching allows editors to work at maximum speed when there is not enough bandwidth to work in real time over the network.

Edit in Place
For creative professionals editing on a high-bandwidth network powered by Xsan, the system avoids caching files. With the Edit in Place setting, editors can drag and drop individual assets or entire Productions from Final Cut Server directly into Final Cut Pro and begin editing without waiting for files to copy to the workstation. Final Cut Server points Final Cut Pro to the referenced assets, allowing editing directly over the high-bandwidth network.

If you are creating or editing graphics or other relatively small files over a LAN or WAN, you can manually set up any device to Edit in Place. Final Cut Server then allows you to work directly over the network when you are accessing files from that device.

Robust Access Controls
Access controls are a key element in any collaborative production environment. They provide two benefits:

Faster browsing, by displaying only the materials that are relevant to your work
Protection from unauthorized use, by allowing only the right people to see the right assets at the right times

Final Cut Server makes it easy to define a highly specific set of access permissions on an asset or Production basis. Use access controls to limit client access to just the relevant versions or content types, or to restrict access to content for confidential projects.

Seamless Archiving and Retrieval
Archiving an asset makes it possible to take the asset offline but still retain a link to it, so the asset can be retrieved in the future. This feature is useful when you have large video files that are not currently being used but are taking up disk space on a device. You can archive assets to anything from a FireWire drive to a large hard disk that you can take offline. Final Cut Server helps you safely archive assets and quickly retrieve them later when they are needed.

Archiving protections
To protect against archiving an asset that is still in use, Final Cut Server shows a warning message that lists all the Final Cut Pro projects that link to that asset.

Searching and restoring archived assets
After an asset is archived, its associated thumbnails, poster frames, proxies, and metadata are retained and fully searchable in the catalog. Metadata fields are used to indicate the name of the drive and its physical location.

Restoring the asset is as easy as plug and play. Just reconnect the drive and click the Restore button, then use the asset as you would any other in the catalog.

Workflow Automation Tools
Automate repetitive tasks and update team members instantly.

The more time creative professionals spend on repetitive overhead tasks, the less time they have for creative work. Final Cut Server allows you to create a set of automated activities to handle routine chores such as file transfers, encoding, status notifications, and even review and approval tracking.

Modular, Event-Based Automation
Final Cut Server automations are completely modular, so you can easily set up workflows that are a perfect fit with the way you work.

The basic building block of automation in Final Cut Server is a "watch and respond" sequence. When a change (an "event") occurs to a "watched," or monitored, element, the system responds with an action or actions.

For example, you can direct Final Cut Server to watch an asset's status metadata field. As soon as the field is changed to Publish, Final Cut Server can make copies, move old content to a backup location, or convert media to an output format and push it to a broadcast server.

Types of watched events
Final Cut Server monitors three types of events: file system, metadata, and time.

File system Identifies changes on connected drives and volumes
Example: Files are added to a folder.
Metadata Identifies changes in designated metadata fields
Example: A Status field changes to "Ready for Review".
Time Schedules tasks at specific times or intervals
Example: Scans every five minutes to update the asset catalog.

Automating a task
To automate a task, simply specify the watched event, then indicate what actions should occur in response.

Automating workflows
To automate a workflow, just define a sequence of automated tasks. Large-scale, facilitywide workflows can be constructed by chaining together these basic elements.

Convenient Workflow Templates
Workflow templates configured for your type of facility can help you get up and running within minutes. Choose from preconfigured setups including Television Station, Video Production, Film Post Production, and Education, or choose Other for general cataloging.

Each template defines a set of users, permissions, asset and production types, review and approval notifications, and publishing rules. Metadata sets used for media production workflows--such as Show, Promotion, Commercial, Trailer, and Package--are associated with each template. Easily customize the templates over time to create exactly the workflow you need.

Basic and Advanced Automation Options

Check-In/Check-Out Protections
Final Cut Server makes it easy to round-trip Final Cut Pro projects, with instant updating of cataloged assets whenever a project is checked back into Final Cut Server. Check out projects in the original format if you wish. Or if you're working in uncompressed HD or a Digital Intermediate format, you may want to check out ProRes 422 edit proxies for faster access.

Checking out a Final Cut Pro project
When a Final Cut Pro project is checked out, the project is restricted with a Check Out lock. In addition to the Check Out lock, each of the media assets associated with the project is secured with a Reference lock. The Reference lock prevents other users from changing or deleting an asset that is needed for your project.

Checking out assets
You can also check out individual assets. The Resources pane lists all the projects that use each asset, so that you can avoid inadvertently changing an asset that is used in multiple projects.

Checking in a Final Cut Pro project
When you check a Final Cut Pro project back into Final Cut Server, you have the option to add comments to indicate what has changed in that version, including notes about work that remains to be done. The catalog entries for the project and all associated assets are updated instantly during check-in.

Version Management
Final Cut Server can track changes made to an asset from one version to the next. You can specify how many versions you would like it to keep. For each version, it captures the name of the person who made the change, the time the project was checked back in, and any comments made for that session.

The Versions pane lets you view a listing of every version of the asset except the current one. When you check in an updated version of the asset, the previous version is added to the list.

You can use the list to revert to a selected version. You can also create a new asset from a version, with the option of copying it to another device. The Comment field makes it easy to identify the significant differences among the various copies.

Automated Notifications
Tracking every part of a production and letting relevant people in the workflow know when assets are ready for the next step can be an overwhelming job. Final Cut Server lets you automate email notification, so status updates can be sent to team members instantly. You can trigger email notifications based on metadata (for example, a change to a status field), a watched folder, the status of an automated job, or a scheduled event.

Set up Final Cut Server to notify the motion graphics department whenever a Final Cut Pro editor sends a project to Motion. Configure an automation to send a manager or producer an email at 5:00 p.m. every Monday through Friday that includes a listing of the status of all jobs. Easily configure any set of notifications for your workflow and change them whenever you want.

Integrated Review and Approval Tools
Final Cut Server helps move productions through the pipeline faster with built-in review and approval tools. Set up the system to automatically notify reviewers via email when a project is ready to review.

Reviewers can add clip annotations on low-resolution proxies through the Final Cut Server annotation interface, so editors can see comments displayed shot by shot. Small proxy file sizes support review and approval even over a low bandwidth connection.

The Reference lock prevents other users from changing or deleting an asset that is needed for your project.

Final Cut Studio Workflows
A key component of efficient production is the ability to have multiple people working on the same production at the same time. Final Cut Server is designed to leverage Final Cut Studio features in support of parallel or nonlinear workflows.

Working with multiple Final Cut Pro editors
Multiple Final Cut Pro editors can work on different sections of a film or video production at the same time by creating a separate project for each section. These projects all share the same referenced assets, with no need for additional copies or storage. When the sequences are finished, the separate projects can be assembled into a single master project for further editing and delivery. Version management makes it easy to revert to a previous version for each defined section of the program.

Workflows with other Final Cut Studio applications
The "Send to" option in Final Cut Pro has additional advantages for parallel work when the destination is a folder that is regularly scanned by Final Cut Server. Because Final Cut Server continuously updates the catalog, multiple creative professionals can be doing specialized work such as motion graphics or sound editing while the video editor continues to work.

When Soundtrack Pro audio file projects or Motion projects are checked back into Final Cut Server, the Final Cut Pro assets update instantly in the Final Cut Pro Timeline--just as they would if all the work were being done on a single workstation. You can also use Final Cut Server to catalog XML files created by Color, so you can import the graded files into your Final Cut Pro project as soon as they are ready.

Version management advantages
A key advantage to using Final Cut Server to manage workflows when multiple users are working on the same production is that the version list for each element can be accessed directly by the editor. If a client isn't happy with a change to a motion graphic or sound file, a more appropriate version can be swapped in immediately from the relevant version list.

For even more options, you can add the Episode Pro plug-in from Telestream to encode to VC-1, WMV, GXF, and FLV formats, as well as High Profile H.264 and a number of third-party proprietary broadcast server formats.

Batch Processing
The automation tools in Final Cut Server allow you to simultaneously encode multiple formats from the same source file or even from multiple source files. For example, when a project's status is changed to Publish, Final Cut Server can launch encoding for web delivery and broadcast formats at the same time.

Time-Saving Templates
Set up Compressor to configure sequences of encoding and conversion steps, then save the sequences as templates in Final Cut Server, using easy-to-understand names such as Web Delivery. By representing complicated batch format conversions as a single menu item, templates make it easier to offload operational work to nontechnical users.

Distributed Encoding
The Qmaster distributed encoding application included in Compressor 3 allows you to use multiple computers and even multiple processors in each computer to optimize the use of computing resources during encoding.

Use the AutoCluster feature in Qmaster to quickly define clusters, then use Final Cut Server to direct specific jobs to the cluster or clusters you select. You can schedule processing-intensive work to occur during off-hours or even use processors in individual workstations on an opt-in basis.

Use scripted responses in Final Cut Server to automate delivery to external systems, such as web servers, broadcast servers, or archive systems. You can easily export metadata to meet the requirements of special-purpose workflows such as broadcast traffic systems.

Customer Review: A Digital Asset Management System at a Great price
Anyone who has shopped around for a Digital Asset Management (DAM) System will attest they are often costly to buy, complex to use and require a lot of work getting everything setup. In my opinion Apple has hit a (near) home run with Final Cut Server and the price simply can't be touched by any other vendor .

My company needed a DAM to manage a lot of graphic files for things such as Letterheads, Websites, product brochures, etc. but we also wanted to create a lot of tutorial videos for our customers. The challenge is that we are not all in the same physical location, and this made keeping things organized in folders or trading files by E-mail too difficult and a problem.

We didn't simply need a system to manage Final Cut Pro files, but one to manage all of our digital assets centrally. The name of this product makes you believe that it is only for Final Cut, but it actually handles alot of other file types quite well. We used a lot of web graphics, project plans, etc. and so far everything is working quite well.

The nomenclature can be confusing, since it uses video production terms like "Production" to refer to what we deem as Projects. Other terms like Articles, Commercials and Package refer to standard video production house terms, but you can create your own using the powerful built-in metadata set editor tools.

The best features of the software:
1.) Extendable Metadata Sets - this is a huge plus. You can define your metadata fields, groups and sets to make organization easy and to fit the terms and language used to your environment (especially if you are not strictly video like us). For example, we created one called "Training" based on the Commercial metadata set and it contains only the fields we need and regularly use.

2.) The Java client works well across both OSX and Windows and looks identical. It is like no other Java app I've seen. it is clean, and almost beautiful to look at. If you are used to the rather ugly look and feel of Java, this will be a breath of fresh air and the consistency of look, feel and interface across platforms is terrific.

3.) Setup is quick and easy. The install is much better than expected and only takes 15 - 20 minutes. The instructions are well laid out and easy to understand. It took us a while to understand some of the terms, but one you have things organized, it's painless.

4.) Updates are handled through the Apple's OSX Update services so there is no additional maintenance for another app on your server.

5.) Despite the documentation, for a 10-user system the server requirements aren't bad at all (so far anyway). You do need plenty of disk space (based on your own needs) but the CPU requirements have so far been really low. We have it on a 2.0 Ghz Quad-core Intel-based server along with quite a few other web applications and find no problems at all.

We had a few minor issues at first, but recent updates (delivered through the OSX update feature) took care of most all of them. Today, everything works quite well and we are very happy with the system.

Whether you use Final Cut Pro for video or simply want a good DAM, Final Cut Server is worth a close look. Even if you have to purchase a server in order to use it (reconditioned ones are fairly priced), you simply can't beat the price, usability and extendability of this software. It rivals packages that sell for much, much more.

Case Logic Neoprene DVD Player Case Customer Review: Fits the Acer Aspire One perfectly
Even though it is a DVD case, it fits my Acer Aspire One like a glove!

Thanks to "The Scarecrow" for doing the homework on this.

For $11, it is the cheapest decent case I could find and is far superior to the one that came with the Aspire One. I'm a little obsessive about a good case for my gear and I've purchased several other Case Logic products and they always last at least as long as whatever they are protecting, so I'm a fan of the brand.

It's very simple with no zipper or velcro -- it just stretches over the computer. (I'll be curious to see if the repeated stretching eventually tears at the stitching.)

It should repel minor spills and scratches in my bookbag, which is why I bought it. If you are worried that your player or computer will get dunked in a lake, this isn't the case for you.

I wanted a bright color and was worried that the pink would be "Barbie pink" but it's not too garish.

I deducted one star because I wish the neoprene was about twice as thick.

this is good for placing a 10" player in. Yet does not come w/ sufficient side pockets w/ decent room for more accessories. the sad part is that it does not come w/ harness that allows you to attach it onto the back-side of the head-rest of the front driver. Customer Review: Good DVD Case, Not Great for Use While Watching DVDs
This is a very nice case for holding my 10 inch portable DVD player. It holds all the cables, my sons earphones, plus has a holder for several DVDs. However, unless you have a very large backseat, it's not useful for hooking to the back of the seat for watching. If I do that, it basically sits right in my son's lap--not good, as he then wants to mess with all the DVD controls. So I use it only as a very handy carrying case.

I was looking for a case that would hold a 10 inch portable DVD with a large body. This would have been perfect except we also needed it to be able to strap to a head rest. I like this case. It is nice in order to attach to the seat or in the middle of two seats when traveling. It holds the player and the attachments and some DVD's. The only bad thing is that it doesn't hold a lot of DVD/CD's so you still need a seperate case for that. But this is a much sturdier case then some of the others I have looked at.

When it comes to the best bang for your buck, this Scene It Travel edition is hard to beat. The questions are good and the game is designed pretty well. There's also an included game board with magnetic player pieces to play with others.

Ok, so I probably am not using this game like other users. I get the feeling this was designed with RVers and road trippers in mind who travel as a family or group. As for me, I usually travel alone and load this guy up on my laptop. So I kind of ignore the whole game board setup and just use this for a fresh collection of questions.

This game is pretty comparable in terms of questions to the "Obsessed with Hollywood" book. Obssessed With... Hollywood: Test Your Knowledge of the Silver Screen (Obsessed With) (Obsessed With...) However, that book is harder to find on Amazon and isn't the sturdiest thing in the world. On the upside, for solo travelers like me you don't need a DVD player, which can be a bit much for single player play.

There's also a travel version of the TV trivia game from Scene It Scene It? TV Travel DVD Game. This is a great trivia game for portable solo or multi-player use. At the price of around $13, it's a great value.

Definitely would get this one.

This mat is the best I have found. Went to several local stores to buy a mat. All were either the same price or more expensive, but terrible quality! Pilates mats need to be non-slip and a bit cushy. the bag looks great, sounds great when you read it, but when i recieved it i couldnt believe they sent that to me..
i had bought my daughter a protable dvd player for her 7th birthday, and i wanted a bag to put it in, one that fit would attach to the seats in the car but also could leave in the bag for protection when she uses it at home or when waiting to see the dr. I had bought the bigest portabel player on the market which was 10" screen, the product info on this bag said it holds all 10" portable players, WRONG............. it would not go in the bag at all, and once i did manage to get it in there the bags top did not go all the up so the screen didnt open up enough to even watch anything.... it only let the the screen to open 1/4 of the way up.
DO NOT BUY THIS BAG!!!!!!
but i do have to say that if it would open up all the way it would be perfect cuz it has room for everything you need for the player, it might work well on a 7" screen but i wouldnt hold my breath.

Customer Review: A wonderful and enjoyable racer for the DS
When it comes to street racing games for the DS, you don't have an awful lot of choices. Other than the Need for Speed series, there isn't much that's worth playing on the DS in this department, but thankfully, Grid manages to provide street racing gamers a pretty good time. Offering a decent amount of races, events, and options; Grid mixes elements of arcade racing with simulation as well, providing a pretty good experience. There's a great selection of licensed cars to pick from as well, and despite some occasionally odd graphical hiccups, they all look great for a DS game. In fact, Grid as a whole looks pretty good, with the surrounding areas looking fairly detailed. What really makes Grid worthwhile though is the robust track creator, which also allows you to share created tracks with friends via the DS' Wi-Fi capability. Multiplayer racing is a blast as well, offering a good amount of options and varieties. The only drawbacks to Grid includes the fact that the game as a whole just isn't all that hard once you get the hang of it. Not to mention that the game doesn't really have a great sense of speed to it, as you often feel as if you're not going as fast as you should be. Flaws aside though, Grid is a surprisingly wonderful racing game that DS owners should definitely check out whether they're into street racers or not, and as far as third-party published racing games for the DS go, you can't really do much better than what you find here.

Yes, I too made the same mistake as other customers buying the PSP 2000 battery charger.

In case you weren't paying attention, this latest edition of Sony's PSP battery charger comes with a cord that must be used in order to operate and charge batteries.

The whole point of the PSP 1000 battery charger was its compact design that included the outlet prongs attaching directly to the unit itself. It was a perfect travel companion but now...just a hassle.

It is actually much simpler to charge a PSP through the supplied AC adapter included with the PSP itself than it is to use this thing.

Luckily I had a generous return policy and got my money back right away.

Until Sony upgrades this product and ditches the cord...I won't go anywhere near this thing.

DO NOT get this for superlative acting or cinematic brilliance. It's just SO silly that it is priceless and highly enjoyable. Customer Review: Maybe Not for Everyone, But Perfect for Me
Like most careful shoppers, I read all of the B-Flex reviews on Amazon and other sites before purchasing this product. I travel frequently with a small laptop and the built-in sound is just terrible. I sometimes make business presentations from the laptop and my clients can barely hear them. I also like to watch DVDs and listen to music in hotel rooms. I definitely had a need for a portable USB speaker. so, I decided to give this little guy a try. Here's my take on the B-Flex:

PROS:

- incredibly compact and portable
- the sound is impressively loud and the quality is surprisingly good. I have been using it with DVDs, MP3s, YouTube, and my flash presentations. when you're watching a DVD and the THX intro comes on, it's actually pretty sharp and amazing. I feel like I have a mini home theater in my hotel room bed. no complaints on the sound.
- looks cool. everyone complements me on it and asks about it.
- plug-and-play. it is automatically recognized by my Windows Vista and plays without a problem. I adjust the volume on Windows or the application I'm using.
- USB fit is good and you can bend the flex cable to any position to really direct the sound right toward you.

CONS:

- you have to adjust the volume of your application to optimize the sound. you may have to lower the volume slightly for maximum clarity, but that is pretty much the same on all speakers.

Conclusion:

obviously it would be great if this little speaker was as loud and bass heavy as my big desktop speakers, but in all fairness, that's not the point of this product. it's an ultra compact speaker that does its job amazingly well. if you need a portable speaker and don't want to fuss with wires, batteries, or a power adapter, this little gadget is a steal at $40 and the sound is really great.

UPDATE 11/10/08: I recommended this product to my company and the IT department bought 500 of them! now the B-Flex is everywhere and has kind of become part of the company culture. people use them in their cubicles, for presentations, even office parties. it's pretty funny. not one complaint so far. great little product!
Customer Review: Don't Buy Without Listening First
I bought the JLAB USB Speaker because I received my first laptop as a gift and wanted the portability of going out on the deck with my wireless connection to hear without having to plug in AC.

When it arrived I was excited until I hooked it up...It does give the laptop more of a volume boost...but that's where it stops.

The sound quality is weak.

I saw a pair of USB speakers at Walmart and bought them today to see the difference in sound. OH MY!! The DURABRAND 2.0 USB Powered Speaker System for $10 is so much better. (The only downside is they are 2 of them and you need to plug in the USB for power and the stereo mini plug (both permanently attached to speakers)for audio...they are 8 inches high and 3.5 inches wide , but you have STEREO SEPARATION now and for the price you can't go wrong.

Check out the inexpensive DURABRAND and save some of the green.

This DVD Player works well with my Asus eee PC 901. It is small and does not require external power. I have used it to watch movie DVD's and audio CD's. I have also used it with the Asus recovery DVD (to boot from the DVD and recover the eee PC operating System).

I would recommend it for folks with netbook computers that don't come with DVD Players.

Same as other customer. Ive struggled for weeks now, to make this drive work on my Sony Vaio w/ WinXP. Same error, "USB device not recognized or malfunctioned." Ive tried every drive I could find on the planet, to no avail. And BrilliantMedia's web site is no help. Giving up.

This is a well made product that does exactly what it claims to. It is made of leather material and is quite durable. It can attach to one head rest, or hang between two. We have an 8.5 inch widescreen DVD player and the case held it just fine. My only complaint is that it did not come with any paperwork on how to attach it to the seats; however, it did not take long at all to figure it out. I would recommend this product, especially for the low cost. I paid about $11, after looking at several cases that were much higher.

Customer Review: For the Video iPod owners
I got this in hopes that I could watch my entire DVD collection on the PSP. That was okay until I got the copyright problem and 99% of my collection was unable to transfer. Easy to change with internet connection, they tell you the program and it can then transfer anything. Its nice on the PSP, great quality, but how many movies can you really store on PSP memory cards if you want the best quality, maybe two at the most. But when X-OOM transfers the DVD to your hard drive, you can then transfer it to iTunes, putting it then on your Video iPod. With a 60g iPod I've managed to fit (with the picture filling the screen entirely, with gorgeous quality) over 90 full length movies, with some Simpsons and Lost episodes. With TV DVD, you can transfer them by episode. Its a great product, doesnt run as fast as I'd like, maybe 2x, but its still a great program. AAAAA+++++

This case fits my Sony 8" Portable DVD Player nice and snug. The case also has room for the remote, power adapters and a few DVD movies. Basically, it can hold all the basics. Unfortunately, our Sony Noise-Cancelling Headphones are way too big too fit, though smaller and more compact headphones could probably fit without a problem. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this case.

This product is missing the album that lets you slip in DVD covers. I originally ordered this item from QVC and loved it. I saved so much space by consolidating my DVDs into this compact storage unit. When I decided to buy a second unit, I decided to go with Amazon because I have Amazon prime and the price was comparable to QVC. However, when the unit arrived today, I discovered that the album is not included. In my opinion, the album is important to the system because we can browse the titles easily, my 4-year old can pick his movies on his own, and the album lets me preserve the covers. I'm going to return this item and buy another one from QVC.

The dvd case works great. Enough room for all the cables and the remote that came with my player. I can hang it between the front seats of my car so both the kids can watch. Happy with the case. Haven't used the power adapter much since the battery on my player is working so well. I have used the usb outlet to charge my cell phone and my iPod. A good bargain for price with these two bundled as well, I thought.

Customer Review: Avoid IBM Laptops T30 & T41 and any IBMs for that matter.
Purchased both of these and had these for less than two years. Paid 600.00 for the T41 and 400.00 for the T30 at Budget Computers in Portland Oregon a big reseller of these. Well we are now finding out that there is a design flaw in these. Apparently the newer IBMs have a cage around the video card to prevent these heavy laptops from shearing the video card from the motherboard if you pick it up with one hand. But even with the new cages it can shear off from what I am told. Both of the IBM laptop video cards are failing. IBM won't recall these or repair these. IBM was bought out by company in Hong Kong and from what I can tell on the internet the products are not good and IT managers are finding out the hard way just as I have. But the fact that they changed the design pretty much admits to the poor design. Budget Computer plays dumb and says if they knew about the defect they wouldn't have sold it to us. But at the time we were in for another issue on one of them two days before the warranty expired they had kind of mentioned it under their breath saying they hoped this one was ok. So they knew. I guess someone is suing them right now. The did offer to take 200.00 off and sell us another IBM T42 or R51 for another 300.00. They omitted the part that some of the T42s still have the same poorly designed motherboards as the T41. Will never buy again from Budget Computer nor IBM. I had done all my home work and everyone said IBM made these stout laptops but I do not consider it a good investment by any means. All I can say is that it is timed obsolesence or lazy product development. Resellers like Budget Computer makes me want to avoid middle man altogether. I would not by another refurbished laptop from reseller again. Budget also ghosts the software onto the machines and never provides software disks and it is far better to have the software to fix issues. Always get the disks for software for your machine. You are not getting a deal at Budget. I even emailed the CEO of IBM and never heard from them. IBM even has a 1-800 complaint line separate from customer service, if that is not telling I don't know what is. The complaint line takes you to India from the sounds of it. The customer support and tech support in Georgia was not that good either. They kept transfering me endlessly. I was so disappointed at their customer support and they were poorly trained. I wish I could find a laptop that really hold us to being moved around. Panasonic makes these supposidly tougher ones but they want 3K! Can't anyone make a 600.00 laptop that is light enough and tough enough that it doesn't bend the motherboard under normal use?

This film pokes fun at good old fashioned American College campus antics. Gone are the good old days. Not really, you can relive them in this outrageous film. I love Donald Sutherland's sleepwalk performance as Prof. Dave Jennings. It is a real hoot. Verna Bloom is an unlikely and hilarious seductress. Tim Matheson is a standout and his career has never got the recognition it deserved. Matheson's cool aplomb really makes this film work along with Elmer Bernstein's score doing a somewhat self parody especially on his own swashbuckling THE BUCCANEER score with John Belush's antics during the parade.

I wanted to write and let you know that I think this is a peculiar and particularly funny DVD collection. But I should mention that the humor really grows on you, and requires repeat viewings to catch all the double entendre and hidden jokes. Also, many of the jokes have to be heard two or three times, before they become as funny as they truly are. And believe me, they are hysterical.

Ali G is just one of the three characters played by Sacha Baron Cohen. A British humorist, from London presumably, this DVD is one funny show. Hard to believe that a Jewish man, from England, could play a "white Americaninized rapper" but play he does; with the minds and imaginations of many famous and important people. I cannot believe that he gets Boutros Boutros Kahli to rap? Amazing.

I first heard of this DVD/show from the star's interview on the Howard Stern show, and I was instantly entranced. I am a big fan of the "hidden camera" type shows (please see my other reviews) from the likes of Jamie Kennedy, and others, and assumed that this was the same type of show. But what is amazing is that everyone on the set knows they are being filmed, and yet, they continue to sit there, and take his abuse.

Howard Stern asked him his method of obtaining interviews, and Mr. Cohen could not reveal his secret for fear of not being able to repeat the process. However, it is clear, after viewing, Mr. Cohen is an expert ad-libber, and a very funny comedienne. He has my vote for funniest person from England.

My second favorite character is Bruno, the sexually confused high profile personality interviewer from Austria. He is brilliantly inept, and quite stupid. The fact that he more often interviews secondary no-body's, and doesn't get near anyone remotely famous, makes it even funnier. In one segment he is interviewing the owner of a fancy boutique, and he tells him, presumably when the film isn't rolling, to say that Madonna comes to his shop on a regular basis, 'cuz zat is much more interesting for 'ze viewers.' HILARIOUS!!!

Lastly is Borat, a Kazakhstan TV reporter who seems to limit his low command of the English Language to only the most embarrassing subjects and questions, much to the chagrin of those being interviewed. I find it hard to believe this man would even be married in his home country, but showing naked pictures of his "wife" to complete strangers is not past him. Watching him run down the streets of Manhattan after taxis is funny, and stupid at the same time. Supposedly his shows are telecast in his home country, and I suspect his "innocent foreigner" questions are what help to warm him up to his "victims." We Americans are quite trusting.

Season 2 was just released last Tuesday, 9/13/2005, and I await my UMD version from Amazon. Hopefully, I'll follow up with a review sometime next week. I give "Seazon 1" two thumbs up!!!

These are fine for cheap portable DVD players. I bought 3 of them and got 3 different power bricks. After a few days, one of them stopped working. I did the standard replacement procedure through Amazon and less than a week later, at no expense to myself (they sent a shipping call tag), I had a new unit.

We bought this dvd player last Christmas. It wouldn't turn on in June. We bought another used one from Ebay for $40 and that one lasted about 2 months. It does not play dvd's anymore. I called Axion and they want to charge me $50 to fix it but I think it will just break again so we are going to find a better one! (hopefully.)

Great player - plays all DVD's that I have put in it. Has option for full screen and widescreen. Great display - clear! Sound is fine using headphones and low volumes from speakers. Love the swivel action on the display - can even turn it around and close it on itself and have the screen show up on the top side like a tablet PC. Battery lasted fine on two leg plane trip form East Coast to Texas.

Only downside that I have found so far is that it takes an unusual amount of time to load a DVD+R disk. But again - it plays great, great video quality. I would give it a 4.5 but could only give it a 4 or a 5.

This case is absolutely great! It fits the DVD player 10" for us, all cords (plus more we added), and well more than 12 DVDs. And the look is great for both my husband and I. It works great for long trips where we keep the player in the case while driving. Customer Review: Maybe Not for Everyone, But Perfect for Me
Like most careful shoppers, I read all of the B-Flex reviews on Amazon and other sites before purchasing this product. I travel frequently with a small laptop and the built-in sound is just terrible. I sometimes make business presentations from the laptop and my clients can barely hear them. I also like to watch DVDs and listen to music in hotel rooms. I definitely had a need for a portable USB speaker. so, I decided to give this little guy a try. Here's my take on the B-Flex:

PROS:

- incredibly compact and portable
- the sound is impressively loud and the quality is surprisingly good. I have been using it with DVDs, MP3s, YouTube, and my flash presentations. when you're watching a DVD and the THX intro comes on, it's actually pretty sharp and amazing. I feel like I have a mini home theater in my hotel room bed. no complaints on the sound.
- looks cool. everyone complements me on it and asks about it.
- plug-and-play. it is automatically recognized by my Windows Vista and plays without a problem. I adjust the volume on Windows or the application I'm using.
- USB fit is good and you can bend the flex cable to any position to really direct the sound right toward you.

CONS:

- you have to adjust the volume of your application to optimize the sound. you may have to lower the volume slightly for maximum clarity, but that is pretty much the same on all speakers.

Conclusion:

obviously it would be great if this little speaker was as loud and bass heavy as my big desktop speakers, but in all fairness, that's not the point of this product. it's an ultra compact speaker that does its job amazingly well. if you need a portable speaker and don't want to fuss with wires, batteries, or a power adapter, this little gadget is a steal at $40 and the sound is really great.

UPDATE 11/10/08: I recommended this product to my company and the IT department bought 500 of them! now the B-Flex is everywhere and has kind of become part of the company culture. people use them in their cubicles, for presentations, even office parties. it's pretty funny. not one complaint so far. great little product!

Customer Review: Works with Mac OS X!
For some mysterious reason, LaCie doesn't advertise that this drive works with Mac OS X even though they provide Mac-compatible software for the drive. I was able to boot both my MacBook Core Duo and my MacBook Air using it. (Hold down option instead of 'c'.) The only downside is that the drive appears not to receive enough power from the bus, requiring the AC adapter.

Also, the stock image displayed here is completely wrong.

I got this film for a whole penny. A national video chain was holding a great sale of movies for a penny and a dollar on Thanksgiving day. I viewed this movie before buying this dvd and I enjoyed the film. I watched it a few years later and I do not feel the same way, its still an enjoyable movie though. Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis skip Christmas for a year and everyone has a fit over it. Talk about respecting peoples privacy. Dan Akyroyd leds the neighborhood and trys to get them to understand why they'd do this. Its a great idea ruined by bad acting. If you enjoy films like Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Carol (various ones), Scrooged, Christmas Story, Home Alone to name a few then this one has a good idea but poorly executed. Not going be an annual viewing for any families around the world during Christmas.

We got this thing to placate our car-hating little toddler, who is addicted to Baby Einstein. I loaded several shows on a 4GB USB stick and now we have a selection ready to go when things get desperate. They also kept her calm and happy during a recent hospital stay. I was worried that she'd be unable to resist grabbing the USB stick protruding from the side, but she learned quickly that her show stops when she does that -- no more problems.

We've beat this up a bit and flown overseas with it and no problems so far -- 4 months and counting, finger crossed. I did notice a few times that playing back some .avi or .divx files, when there is a lot of movement on screen (dense flock of flamingos, for example), it can shudder for a few seconds -- the little processor is probably getting overworked, but it could also be that the old, abused USB flash drive that I'm using is at fault. But the audio and video stay in sync and playback continues normally after a few moments.

It comes with a workable back-of-seat hanger, car dc power adapter, home ac power adapter, and stuff I never use like a remote and passable headphones. You will want to purchase some sort of carrying case.

All in all, it does what I bought it to do, I'm a happy customer!

I got this for my birthday, and the next day, I was out on the road with it. We watched many, many different movies, and they all worked great. Even in bumps, there was no freezing on the screen. The one con I have is that my brother used it, and he didn't turn it off all the way. There is no button to turn it off. Instead, there is a little flip-switch type thing. Make sure you turn it off ALL THE WAY (double check) so you can watch it when you aren't in reach of electric. Overall, this is worth the price, and I reccomend you get this DVD player over any others in this price range. I also recommend a case by CaseLogic to hold it in.

We recently order this for our portable audiovox DVD player. Our player has an 8 inch screen. I guess we should have measured it and our car seats. The DVD player is too small for the case, so we can't use it for that reason. And the other reason is that it is too big to fit in the position between our seats. It seems to be of good quality but we can't use it because of the reason above. So yes, measure everything before you buy it.

First of all - a great advantage - no extra AC power needed - that is exactly what we understand as a super slim portable drive. An AC power supply is even not included in the box and it comes just with Y-USB cable. I have IBM X61s laptop, equipped with 3 x USB 2.0 and the NU drive works perfectly on it. They say it is compatible both to USB 1.1 and 2.0, I guess that is why they provided Y-USB cable - for more power on older machines. The NU is cheaper than similar drives provided by TARGUS. About the software compatibility - I can say it is plug and play, no problems. I burned few CDs and DVDs, everything was just fine. They were readable on other machines. It comes with NERO 8.0 - some OEM version, but works great. The finish of this product is pretty good and the design is sleek. I think that is enough - I love it.

First of all, the drive would be recognized right away in Windows XP when plugged, so no need of driver (if any).
It has not worked in Windows Explorer. I meant you could not drag things to the drive because the drive appeared as a DVD-RAM drive. It worked fine with Nero Essential 7.
It made noise, but it burned fast a 4.7gb disc in about 9 minutes at a 8x speed. I have not tried its max speed yet.

DO NOT get this for superlative acting or cinematic brilliance. It's just SO silly that it is priceless and highly enjoyable. The villains are a bit weak especially the Joker, but the Dynamic Duo are as camp and corny as ever. Could have been a little bit shorter. Otherwise classic silly entertainment - the shark and bomb scenes are so ridiculous they have to be seen to be believed. Hilarious!

For a segment of the Baby Boomers, Batman is Adam West, Robin is Burt Ward and comic book fun reigns supreme. Then, a "Dark Knight" would be spelled a bit differently and mean cloud cover at midnight.

This 1966 movie features four villains - The Joker (Cesar Romero), The Penguin (Burgess Meredith), The Riddler (Frank Gorshin), The Catwoman (Lee Meriwether) - who combine forces as The United Underworld, with the goal of turning the nine United World Security Council members into multicolored crystals. It is up to the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder to save the world from this fearsome foursome.

Originally planned as the pilot film for the TV series, the movie was produced between the show's first and second seasons. The movie is a fun romp of 105 minutes - there are several bonus features included - and clearly shows that The Joker isn't alone in saying, "A joke a day, keeps the glum away!"

Upgraded from a pet1000 to the 1030.
1030 more flexible. can fold screen over and use like a tablet
1030 volume is louder than the 1000. now everyone can hear it.
1030 has usb option. can use with flash drives. will not work with the portable flashdrive you put in a memory card however. sd card reader works with standard sd cards, not SDHC.
(this is still good if you dl'd an avi and want to watch it without putting it on a disk. (to me thats why i bought it. just easier to carry flash memory around than disks that may get scratched.

down side picture now can not be incrementally tweeked. has 3 setting for picture quality. some movies that are older need a color boost that the 1000 could do but the 1030 cant.

Im happy with it and if I had not owned a 1000 I wouldnt even know of the shortcomings of the 1030.

Phillips PET-1030/37 Review

Pros:

1. Versatility--Plays DVD, DVD+/-R and DVD+/-RW, (S)VCD, DivX® & MPEG4 movies and MP3/WMA-CD, CD and CD-RW and Jpeg pictures
2. Play files from USB flashdrives and SD memory cards.
3. Better than average loudness from built-in speakers.

Cons:

1. No Power Button on the remote control.
2. The Power Button on the player is difficult to access.
3. The built-in SD memory card reader does not accept the new SDHC high capacity (>2Gb) cards.
4. The internal operating system does not support the new Windows disk formats NTFS and exFAT, making it difficult to connect large capacity hard drives via USB 2.0 (See comments below).
5. At times, the Unit has fits of mysterious repeated shutdowns (perhaps a dew sensor? No error msg displayed.)
6. The DVD stepper motor makes loud thrashing noises during power up/pwr down or return to Disk Menu, chapter skip etc.
7. Noticeable light pattern at bottom of screen from LCD backlight during dim/dark scenes.
8. Ultra cheap and incomplete documentation.
9. No advanced playback features such as playlists.
10. When you turn off the LCD, the audio file stops playing as well.

Comments:

One gets the feeling that Phillips rushed this device to market half baked. The single sheet (like a roadmap) user manual was written by the typical English-is-my-second-language Chinese author, which you'd expect from a Chinese branded product but not from an old Dutch/English brand which has been selling products in the USA for some 100 years.

It is likely that this product was entirely conceived, designed and manufactured by a Chinese company and Phillips is merely a re-brander. This would explain the lack of refinement commonly associated with insufficient product testing using real human beings.

It's nice that they added the USB and SD memory card options but regrettable that they didn't bring them up-to-date with current technology.

NOTES:
1. You can still use the new SDHC flash memory cards if you supply your own SDHC reader and plug it into the USB 2.0 port.
2. The FAT32 Disk Format is supported by the PET 1030 and FAT32 supports drives up to 2 terabytes in size, however, Microsoft has artificially limited the size you can format under Win XP & Vista to 32GB. If you want to format a larger drive in FAT32, you can use a free tool called: "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool v.2.1.8".

The video Now Jr has been GREAT for car trips and when I need to occupy my toddler while shopping and etc-BUT it is not 'virtually indestructable' as I keep reading everywhere. We've bought two. The first started sort of shorting out after about 5 months. We bought a second and left in the car overnight on a cool night (40's) and now there is sound but no video. We'll probably even buy another because it makes travel so much easier but ignore the 'indestructable' part. It is sturdy enough that it won't break when dropped from the height of a toddler...that is the extent of 'abuse' it will take.

I bought this for my son's birthday, because it looked like the "perfect toy" for a child his age. He opened it, and when we put in the batteries and pressed "Play", there was no sound. We tried another disc, then another, but still no change. We even changed batteries three different times, but no sound whatsoever. I think I made a big mistake buying this toy. I'm glad others have had good experiences with it, but the only "good experience" that I would like would be to get a full refund for this piece of junk! BEWARE!!!

Very skeptical to see this film in theatres few years back. The storyline and film editing is excellent. Originally bought this film on vhs. Watched it so much, had to buy dvd format. Truly great horror film. Not to bloody or gruesome.
Tells of what could happen if any government wants to use us as a guinea pig in their wicked experiment. I bet most people watch this as entertainment but there is that underlying message: what if. LOVED IT! Still do!!!

First off this film was NOT A ZOMBIE FILM. It was a film about an infection that made the carrier turn into a homicidal bezerker. They did not eat their victims they just tried to infect them by bleeding on them. Nothing zombie about that. The film was passable for what it was, a cutesy little horror film. I will forever be haunted by that idiot main caracter walking through the deserted streets yelling hello. I watched this saying to myself please kill him. I have never wanted the main character of a film to be killed faster than this guy. I just didn't like this poor attampt at horror movie making. P.S. 28 weeks later was even lamer than this film.

Although many recent college graduates dream of working in a corporate job with their own corner desk and a front row parking place, that fantasy is not always realized. Instead, many are thrown into a life of dull, repetitive work, and made to work in a cubicle with no windows. Mike Judge satirizes this mediocre life in his movie Office Space, the story of Peter Gibbons, a man so bored with his day to day routine that he finally snaps. In this parody of "Corporate America," Judge earns laughs with witty dialogue, but also breaches a deeper meaning through his uncannily realistic view of work in a dysfunctional company. I really enjoy this movie, not only because of the comedic aspects like the extreme characters and sarcastic banter, but also because of its relevance to the modern workplace.
Generally, critics love Office Space as much as its cult followers. However, there are some movie critics that disagree. Rick Groen claims that the writer and director, Mike Judge, cannot follow through to the end of the feature length film because of his background primarily in short TV cartoons. Instead, Groen sees the film as starting off strong, but losing steam towards the end. But overwhelmingly, reviewers of the movie praise the "good-natured comedy about the suppressed rage and paranoia of unappreciated employees" (Elias). Although professional critics see the movie as cunning, witty, and uproarious, Office Space did not generate a large crowd at the theaters (Box Office Mojo), and even a smaller fan base. I like to think that I am a part of the cult culture surrounding the movie, much like the groups that are so fanatic about movies like Fight Club or Donnie Darko.
The issues brought up in Office Space still apply to many people, even though there is a relatively small fan base. Contrary to the movie Clockwatchers, in which jokes about an office environment quickly go away, "revealing a surprising, almost surreal core of unhappiness and mistrust among its central characters," all of the serious issues brought up in Office Space are hidden subtly behind parody and satire (Davis). Of course, most Americans' lives are not quite as dull as Peter Gibbon's, since the movie Office Space is a parody of corporate culture in America. Not only does Peter Gibbons have a dull and repetitive job--updating bank software for "the 2000 switch"--but he is also stuck in a cubicle, depriving him of all natural light. Just to the other side of his cubicle wall is a huge window, with a great view of a tree and some rolling hills. In one scene, after Peter snaps, he unscrews the outside wall of the cubicle and knocks it down, letting all the papers and memos fall everywhere. Aside from his cramped and unnatural workplace, Peter is under several middle-management level executives who all seem to have overlapping responsibilities. Each one stops by to remind Peter that he failed to put a cover sheet on his TPS report. The vice president of the company where Peter works, Initech, is Bill Lumbergh, represents the stereotype of corporate bosses and the antagonist of the movie. Lumbergh repeatedly asks his employees to come into work on Saturdays while he roams around the office aimlessly with a cup of coffee, instead of actively managing his employees.
Perhaps Office Space pokes the most fun at the way companies hire "efficiency consultants" to help with productivity, but in the process of streamlining the consultants completely halt all work. The two consultants hired by Initech in the movie are known as "The Bobs" and meet Peter after his snap. In this sudden change, Peter takes on an attitude of complete apathy after his therapist suffers a heart attack in the midst of hypnotization, leaving Peter in an unrealistic state of deep relaxation. Ironically, The Bobs are completely taken with Peter, even after he openly admits that he really "does nothing" all day. Other employees in the company do much more work, like Peter's friends Michael and Samir, but they are fired for reasons clear only to the consultants. Instead of keeping workers that are efficient, The Bobs keep Peter, who is disrespectful to his boss and plays Tetris all day. These kinds of consultants are a parody of the type of corporate planning and strategizing that became so popular in the 1990s. Lumbergh, the VP of Initech, is also seen in front of a whiteboard reading "Planning to Plan," another stab at new ideas and attempts to streamline corporate offices that really defeat their own purpose.
One of the most praised aspects of the movie is its larger than life characters. Because of his background in animation, Mike Judge exaggerates the characters' personalities so that "every personality trait is magnified" (Ebert). Characters like Bill Lumbergh, written to be the stereotype of a corporate boss in the 1990s, wears "gold-rimmed aviator glasses, a ski-resort tan and a contrasting-collar dress shirt," and Tom, a 50ish functionary who lives in constant -- and justified -- terror of being downsized," are played out to the extreme by the actors. Peter's two friends, Michael Bolton, who resents the famous singer with his same name, and Samir Nagheenanajar, whose last name no one can pronounce, both dislike their jobs, but appreciate the security. After they are both fired, they take out their anger at the company by taking their misbehaving copy machine to an empty field and destroy it with baseball bats. The most animated character and my personal favorite is Milton, an employee who was "let go" years ago, but through a glitch in the payroll continues to be paid every week. Instead of deciding to take on a lifestyle of apathy, like Peter, Milton combats the stresses of corporate life by being overly protective of his possessions, especially his stapler.
Not only does the movie Office Space poke fun at corporate businesses, but it also satirizes the mediocre lives of the people that work in those jobs. Mike Judge expresses the impatience of many Americans through his subtle and witty humor in a satire about life in Corporate America. Everyone who has worked in an office can pick out at least a few foibles from some of the extreme characters that remind them of past or present coworkers. The issues brought up comically in the movie resonate with its audience long after the final credits.

I love this product. I used it in conjunction with a 12' diagonal inflatable screen for outdoor movies during the summer. Also hooked up wireless speakers a few times as well as the X-box...after seeing how well mine works and how easy it is, my brother-in-law ran out and purchased 2 for gifts. My daughter uses it for trade shows when she travels..very easy carry on.. can't say enough great thins about it....

If you can find it, this little Epson is a good machine. I wanted a projector unit that would play DVDs because I didn't want to have to drag too many components outside every time we watched a movie. I did buy this projector for outdoor movies, not for indoor watching. If you're looking for an indoor projector, I think you could have a better setup with a ceiling-mounted projector and regular video inputs and surround sound.

I opted for the non-HD projector because I didn't think it was worth all the extra money. Having said that, the picture that is projected is very clear and nice, so if you're able to tell the difference between a regular DVD and an HD-picture, you may be able to tell the difference with the projectors as well. I'm not that picky.

The sound that comes out of the 2 side speakers is actually pretty impressive. It's enough that we don't need to add speakers if there's just a small group watching a movie. However, when we brought it out for a bbq, we did plug in computer speakers (through the headphone jack) for a more projected sound. Depending on your use, the built-in speakers may be adequate.

It's extremely easy to set up. You plug it in, insert a DVD, and pretty much go from there. The remote allows more fine tuning than the buttons on the unit (zoom, picture aspect, color settings, etc), so definitely don't lose the remote! I like that you can manually zoom the picture in or out without having to movie the projector itself. In the box = projector, dust case, power cord. That's it. I think anything that plugs into a tv with video/audio inputs can be plugged into the Epson.

I don't know why this unit is out of stock everywhere. Even the Epson store doesn't carry them. I also haven't seen them in stores. I had an order in with Amazon for one, but after 3 weeks I hadn't gotten any shipping notice, so I cancelled it and went searching for another online vendor.

I bought this to replace the failing internal drive on my daughter's MacBook. After extensive research, we could find no documentation whether this drive was Mac compatible or not. The manufacturer does not list the Mac in their compatibility list, and there were no drivers available for it anywhere. We took a chance and, as it turns out, it is fully compatible without the need for any driver. Just plug and play with the Mac.

Customer Review: HDMI does not work
I like the concept and the product. I purchased the HD version because I wanted to connect it to my new 1080P Samsung TV. I received the unit and I just could not get it to work through the HDMI interface. I also tried it on my 720P Sharp Aquos, but still no video over the HDMI. I was able to connect it using the component video and everything worked fine. I also had a problem with the LCD display where as I was using the remote the display would get garbled. After going through a couple weeks of emails with Mvix customer support, upgraded the firmware to the latest, tried over and over, but just could not get the HDMI working, so I returned it for repair (much to my objection at my expense for shipping). Mvix received the unit and said there was no problem found. The could not reproduce the HDMI issue nor the LCD issue. Luckily I had taken a picture of the corrupted LCD dispolay so I had hard proof. They reluctantly replaced my LCD display. They admitted that it has never been tested with my specific TV models, and mentioned that Samsung had a problem with sound. I also asked customer support for a list of qualified TV's that they know work, but they would not provide it.

One thing that I noticed is that the HDMI plug is inset into the box about 3/16 inch. Most HDMI devices position the HDMI connector flush with the back panel. Could it be that because my HDMI connector won't fully seat in the connector, that is why I can't get it to work? I did try a different cable with a slightly longer plug but that didn't work either.

Anyway bottom line, it seems to me there is HDMI compatibility issues with some TV, including unfortunately the two TV's that I have, OR a mechanical issue with the inset position of the HDMI connector. I guess I could take the PCB out of the box so that I can fully seat the HDMI plug but I didn't try that (yet).

I have to use it with the component video, which means a resolution of only 1080i, which sucks since I paid for 1080p capability. Other than that it works great! I recommend buying the non-HD version and save some money for the useless HDMI!

Shaun (Simon Pegg) lives a supremely uneventful life, which revolves around his girlfriend (Kate Ashfield), his mother (Penelope Wilton), and, above all, his local pub. This gentle routine is threatened when the dead return to life and make strenuous attempts to snack on ordinary Londoners. The finale, in which the pub turns into an Alamo, is the bloodiest, most orthodox, and least witty part of the movie; far sharper are the early scenes in which Shaun wanders happily to the local store along a battered, zombie-dotted street and pulps his attackers with a cricket bat. The central joke is so snappy and well sustained that you barely catch sight of the ominous vision on offer: a country that already feels like death. -Anthony Lane

This film is superb fun, and has plenty of really good laughs as well as brilliant scenes with zombies. It's a very inventive film that lifts the horror-comedy movie to a level that hasn't been seen for a long time.

This is a really enjoyable bit of nonsense that I'd recommend to anyone. Great stuff.

Not a spoof. The admitted goal of this movie was the be a comedy AND a zombie movie, and in that respect they nailed it. They don't make fun of zombie movies, they make fun of life, love, and death. One of the few horror movies that works as a date movie. Simon Pegg knows funny, but the entire cast gets a turn to shine through as well.

T Joe Murray makes classy documentary movies that deal with issues that are part of the GLBT experience and each of his films is a learning experience that is totally entertaining. "A Portable Tribe" is a film about gay men who love being outdoors; love camping and love being naked. It was filmed at gay campgrounds in Nevada, New York state, Michigan, Florida and California it contains interviews with 34 men. The beauty of these men is that not only accept themselves but they celebrate who they are. One of the ways they do this is by spending time together outdoors.
We see men bonding by this experience and I felt their sentence of brotherhood as I watched the film.
It is easy to see why the men in the film love their lives. The camping experience gives them a sense of belonging that is not easy to find in urban centers. A particularly interesting part of the film is the California Men Enjoying Naturism segment which was filmed in Malibu. Nude men talk what being together with each other is all about and why such gatherings keep them coming back. I would have thought that gay men who are naked together talk about sex and pursue each other but this is not the case. They simply enjoy being together and they appear very natural.

Demand is the notion of an economic quantity that a target population or market requires under different assumptions of price, quality, and distribution, among other factors. Latent demand, therefore, is commonly defined by economists as the industry earnings of a market when that market becomes accessible and attractive to serve by competing firms. It is a measure, therefore, of potential industry earnings (P.I.E.) or total revenues (not profit) if a market is served in an efficient manner. It is typically expressed as the total revenues potentially extracted by firms. The “market” is defined at a given level in the value chain. There can be latent demand at the retail level, at the wholesale level, the manufacturing level, and the raw materials level (the P.I.E. of higher levels of the value chain being always smaller than the P.I.E. of levels at lower levels of the same value chain, assuming all levels maintain minimum profitability).

The latent demand for portable DVD players is not actual or historic sales. Nor is latent demand future sales. In fact, latent demand can be lower or higher than actual sales if a market is inefficient (i.e. not representative of relatively competitive levels). Inefficiencies arise from a number of factors, including the lack of international openness, cultural barriers to consumption, regulations, and cartel-like behavior on the part of firms. In general, however, latent demand is typically larger than actual sales in a country market.
